Gorillaz New Addition - The Evangelist

The Evangelist seems to be Gorillaz new accession to the band, despite rumors of braking up.Gorillaz New Addition - The Evangelist Picture

The Gorillaz have simply added a new addition, The Evangelist, to their crew. Even though there are strong rumours that the set is finished, the crew added their new member on Tuesday this week. This new animated character can almost be described as "nightmarish" with its humanoid body frame and clawed hands.

The fantastic figure has octopuses stuck to both arms, and its head is covered with a fishbowl having tentacles attached.

One of the Gorillaz band's masterminds, Jamie Hewlett, drew the study of the nightmarish creature from a project submitted by a fan. The ring held an online competition, had over 5000 entries submitted, and the sketch submitted by a fan "under the name Jirouta" became the aspiration for The Evangelist.

When the online contest was opened, band members Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn issued only sketchy guidelines for the new character. "The Evangelist is the contrary of 'The Boogieman'; the weak to his awful shade", they said. "The Evangelist is a similar entity, but the flip-side of 'The Boogieman.' He/she may still be revealed as 'The Boogieman's' avenger."

They continued: "Many rumours fly around of his/her description. Some say that he/she is dressed head to toe in white rhinestoned-leather. Some say he/she rides a glowing white Unicorn. Some say the Unicorn likes other Unicorns. One study has declared that the Evangelist looks like a knackered cowboy on a drunken horse."

Even though the Gorillaz have their "new band member", the next of the ring remains unclear. When they complete their "Escape To Plastic Beach" tour in Auckland, New Zealand, about a month ago, Damon Albarn hinted to all the fans that this point might so be their last. He said to the crowd: "I'm really trying to censor my sentimentality tonight. For us, this is the last time. we all trust and pray on this stage, and (for) all the multitude that go with us, that we will get a fortune to bring together as a collective again."

"But we may never do that again, so for us tonight is a very charged moment."
